Northern New Mexico Hunting & Fishing Conservation Exhibition
Head to Red River this exciting new event that includes a $10,000 fishing derby, demonstrations, exhibitors, retailers,outfitters, a wild game cook-off and more at this great his & her weekend in Red River.
Exhibitors include New Mexico Game & Fish (OHV simulator and laser-tag sure shot), Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, New Mexico Trout, and the Carson National Forest. Retailers from around Red River will be on-site with their outdoor recreation supplies and apparel, along with other goodies for the whole family.
FREE admission to all events at the Red River Conference Center.
$10,000 Fishing Derby
Use your skills to fish for a $10,000 trout! On Saturday, May 8th from 10 am - 4 pm 250 anglers will be given the opportunity to fish for 60 tagged trout spread out between four ponds in Red River. Each tagged fish will be worth cash or a prize, with one tagged fish given the chance at $10,000. Tickets for the $10,000 Fishing Derby are $10 each and go on sale on Friday, April 16th (one ticket per person). All anglers must have a New Mexico fishing license (which you can get here). Each participant is limited to five tagged fish, so bring your whole family! Get your ticket(s) by calling the Red River Chamber of Commerce at (800) 348-6444 x. 1. Wild Game Cook-off
Maybe fishing isn't your thing but you can work magic in the kitchen. On Saturday, May 8th head to the Red River Conference Center with your best wild game dish and enter in the Wild Game Cook-off. There is no entry fee for this fun event and the top two winners receive CASH prizes ($100 for first place, $50 for second place). Turn in time is at 12:30 pm. All entries will be judged by a panel.
